Fly Draenei Friday - The Video

I totally slacked off on FDF this week.  There's so much to do with the new patch, and AOE looting!  The biggest change for me was the change to gaining guild experience (xp).  <Pretty Fly for a Draenei> has been a level 5 guild for ever.  It was a little hard to solo level a guild with a few friends only popping in every once in a while.  When I first heard about the change, which is all level appropriate quest turn-ins grant 60,000 guild xp no matter what level the character, I started running dailies like a mad woman.  It wasn't until my second day back with those Sons of Hodir that I realized rep item turn-ins grant the same xp.  After trying different things and looking over my roster for level-appropriateness, I settled on turning Aldor rep items as the fastest way to go.  The best part about their turn-ins is that you can turn in single Marks of Sargeras, and each one grants you the 60,000!  My hubby loaned me his level 72 death knight for the turning-in.  I depleted the inventory on the auction house and got up to guild level 6.  A quick run through Shadow Labs netted me about 60 marks, so I settled into farming that dungeon.  About 700 (!) marks later, I reached my short-term goal of guild level 8.  Sweet Hasty Hearth, you are mine!

Since I was running two screens of WoW, after finishing the turn-ins I went over to my account and left the area to check something out.  When I tabbed back over to hub's account, this is what I found:
I had an inkling it was that Blood Elf you see in the first picture, but his armory shows him Honored with the Aldor.  So, I guess maybe poor Adyen just passed out from the exhaustion of accepting all my turn ins!

Anyhow, since this is still Fly Dreanei Friday, how about the video that inspired it all for me?  I present Nyhm's Pretty Fly (For a Draenei):

Patch 5.0.4 Thoughts

Here's my first though on patch 5.0.4: YOU BROKE MOGIT!!!  I'm having a hard time with that one.  The super amazing Mogit authors have posted that an update in nearly ready, so I'm going to try and keep the panicking to a minimum.

Upon logging in, I wondered who turned on the disco lighting?!  The Draenei character screen was like this in beta, but I thought maybe it was a bug.  Guess it's more of a feature...  I noticed a lot of weird shading in game.  Someone referred to it as 'dynamic lighting', yeah, gonna have to see if I can turn that off.  At least it compliments Draynee's outfit here, but my other peeps, not so much.

An upside is the game definetly looked better that first login.  I don't know if it was a few days of playing Guild Wars 2, or if they actually sharpened all the graphics.  Things just looked prettier.  Maybe it was excitement over the fact that Draynee can finally ride that pink proto-drake without having to do any more holiday acheivments!  Thank you account-bound mounts!

Hooray for coordinating mounts!
As far as the talent changes go, I think they're pretty good.  The classes I play the most haven't really changed.  Ret paladin-ing is a whole lot better since everything gives you holy power now.  The only bummer is I can't decide which of these two talents to take.
Always fast, or sometimes even faster?
I used to have them both in Ret, so every time I settle on one, I miss the other!  I'll just have to keep a stack of the dusts on me so I can switch them out.  I am enjoying all the empty action bar buttons I have now.  I used to have so many abilities on my bar, I could never find my bubbles.
Shinies!
The BEST part of the patch was the addition of AE looting, finally!  I ran into Kara and pulled as much as I could before I started loosing too much health.  It took me about 10 minutes as Prot to kill all the crap that was on me, but only one click to loot it!

In hunter news, Drainee retired her beloved Hellreaver.  It was a little bittersweet.  There are quite a few mog outfits I've been planning for her that I could never find a polearm to coordinate, so that's an upside.  I'm not really sure I care for my bow on my back, though.  Lastly, thanks to a tip from the Godmother, I ran out and tamed this guy, sooo cool...

My First Mogover!

(Thanks to Dizzy for the post title)

This weekend I got to run some Wrath raids with some friends I used to raid with Horde-side, in Wrath oddly enough.  I hadn't hung out with them in awhile, and it was a lot of fun.  Hooray for Real ID! Lol.  When I first started raiding with them, Unroku was the other Unholy Death Knight.  I kicked his butt in dps every raid.  When Blizzard killed off separate 10/25 lock-outs, and our raids dwindled down to 10, he switched to his shaman.  He eventually went Alliance, on a different server than mine, and changed to the best thing a shaman can be, a female Draenei of course!
Ready to punch Yogg in the.. face?  I think it's a face.
We talked a little about transmog, and my adventures with the WoW Factor shows.  He seemed pretty interested in being a fly Draenei, but he's a guy, so I think he needs a little push.  I've made up some mogs for him to maybe get him started.

This first mog is based off of some pieces from his pvp set.  I always think of him as more of a PVP'er, as him and crazy Naga were always doing arenas.  I also really like these shaman shoulders, they're super cool.

Shoulder - Cataclysmic Gladiator's Mail Spaulders

Chest - Hero's Breastplate

Belt - Hero's Belt

Gloves - Cataclysmic Gladiator's Linked Gauntlets

Legs - Cataclysmic Gladiator's Mail Leggings

Feet - Bloodmail Boots

Mace -  Glorious Scepter

Shield - Zom's Crackling Bulwark

This next mog is for his PVE set.  His nickname (irl) is Goldy, so I came up with this look based on that.
Shoulder - Khan's Mantle

Chest - Masterwork Breastplate

Belt - Girdle of the Gambit

Gloves - Masterwork Gauntlets

Legs - Valorous Earthshatter Legguards

Mace -  Hammer of the Pentinent

Shield - Ruthless Gladiator's Redoubt

Here's another variation of the gold outfit, but with the 'Elite' PVP Shoulders. I hope they stick around when MOP comes out, and don't require a crazy arena rating to acquire.

Shoulders - Cataclysmic Gladiator's Mail Spaulders

Chest - Radiant Breastplate

Gloves - Engraved Gauntlets

Belt - Radiant Belt

Legs - Valorous Earthshatter Legguards

Well, I hope he likes them.  Maybe he'll get a little inspiration, or the transmog bug.  If not, he's still kinda fly to me ;)

Mogolympics Week 2

Week 2 of Mogolympics has drawn to a close, and as expected, there was some fabulous mogs to be seen. This week we had the Wrestling, Archery, and Javelin events. There was quite a lot of throwing going on, between the javelin throwing, and contestants being thrown off of the docks in the wrestling event.  Congrats to all the medal winners this round!

The first event this week was Wrestling.  I was honored with a bronze medal for this cheeky guy.
The challenge for this event was to build a look around one of the "championship" belts.  This is one of the events I decided to take literally, and created a semi-pro wrestler man.

The second event was Archery, and this competition was fierce.
The challenge for this event was pretty straight-forward.  Build a look around your favorite bow.  I went back and forth a lot on this event, as far as which outfit to submit.

The last event was the Javelin throw.  I took a whopping 16th place!
The challenge here was to build a look around a polearm.  I had high hopes for this lady, but I guess her throwing arm just wasn't up to snuff!

Next week are the last three events, Equestrian, Freestyle, and Fencing.  There is also going to be Closing Ceremony, and I can't wait to see what JD and the others have up their sleeves for it!

Fly Draenei Friday - Draenei in Red

Time again for Fly Draenei Friday!  Don't forget to send in your fly Draenei shots!  Either you, someone you know, or just someone you see around town, send 'em on in!

This week's reader submission comes from Taelainne on US Runetotem. This is her 'Draenei in Red' outfit.

Head - Cowl of the Grand Engineer
Shoulders - Felstone Mantle
Back - Mantle of Keristrasza
Chest - Vestments of the Sea-Witch
Wrist - Emberflame Bracers
Hands - Cindercloth Gloves
Sword - Red Sword of Courage
Off-hand - Dungeoneering Guide

I love the use of the Red Sword of Courage, it looks really great with the robes. You can see a side-view of the outfit here. Thanks for sending her in Tae!

Now some fly Draenei from Proudmore!

Ryoukø was a 10k winner from the first WoW Factor show on Proudmore.  Here she is looking fly once again in a mix of Blood Knight mail, and other well-coordinated pieces.

Stefani looks ready for some serious hunting!  The use of this scythe model is awesome, and she managed to coordinate nicely around the enchant glow of the weapon.

Callet has been spotted before, and this time she is looking fly in the Warleader's set.  The raid finder coloring of Gurthalak is a perfect finishing touch.

Smokinggoat is one fly guy, in Robes and Mantle of Prophecy, topped off with the Hood of Dying Light.

Mogolympics In Full Swing!

**** Warning - if Orcs still give you nightmares about Draenor, and you think Troll's toes are ugly, you may want to skip this post ****

With the opening ceremonies and 3 events under our belt, the Mogolympics is is full swing now! There were so many entrants, I am amazed at the work the judges are doing. I believe I counted 47 entrants! How they are keeping it all straight is beyond me!

To recap my first post,  I am representing the Lower City, and this fly guy is my flag bearer!

The events that have been held so far are Cycling, Hammer Throw, and Discus.  The judges have done a really great job doing write-ups of each event, so check out those links.  The contest as whole was a little difficult for me, as we could only use each race/gender combo once (flag bearer excepted).  I definitely learned some things look better on other races, and most things look better on Draenei, lol.  On to the recap!

The first event was the Cycling.  I was blown away to be chosen as the gold medal winner for the event, thanks to the judges for picking me!  I guess sometimes Orcs can be fly too... I guess...
The Cycling challenge was to build a biker outfit to compliment the Chopper out of leather or mail.  I went with more of a bike babe look, rather than a match the chopper look, and a lot of the other entrants did too.  She does compliment the tires rather well, I think :)

The second event was Hammer Throw.  From what I can tell, I landed in a 5-way tie for 5th place.
The Hammer Throw challenge was to build an outfit around your favorite two-handed hammer.  This outfit was especially challenging, as I really don't like maces.  There are some that are ok, but I generally dislike them for reasons other than the look.  I can't stand the hollow 'donk' sound that plays when you parry, or are parried using a mace.  The sound in my ears just makes me cringe at maces.  Anyhow!  I decided to just have fun with this one since there was no weapon I loved.  You can't go wrong with a Draenei in pink!  Maybe you can...

The latest event held was the Discus event.  This one was a total wash for me, which is not surprising.  I'm guessing the judges were too busy staring at her weird two-toed feet.
The Discus event is pretty self-explanitory, but we did have a limited selection of shields to pick from for our outfit.  This was the last outfit I did for the competition, and I guess it came out looking that way.  I was going to go for one of the popular blue and gold looks, but chose something unusual instead.  I think it all ties into the shield fairly well, but perhaps those disco-striped Bogslayer Legs are just a bit too unusual :)

So, that's the competition so far!  This week we have Wrestling, Javelin, and Archery still to be revealed.  My wrestler is pretty tongue-in-cheek, so I'm interested to see his placing.

WoW Factor Tichondrius

This week I had the honor of being asked to guest judge a WoW Factor Show!  I've been to a few of their shows, and even won at the two Proudmore shows, but this was my first time 'behind the scenes'.  I was really nervous going into it, especially about talking in Skype with so many people listening.  Noelani, Ironyca and Elvine were great though, and it felt like I was just hanging out, talking about transmogs with three buddies.  I've always admired the work they put into doing these shows, but now even more so having been involved in the craziness.  There was a ton of contestants, a ton of whisper spam, but most importantly, a ton of fun!  A huge thank you to all the people who have ever sponsored these events and made them possible.

Judging was slightly intense.  There was so many people to look at, and you want to look at everyone, but you have to keep the show moving.  Sometimes I would spot someone and before I could give them a closer look, I would move back to where one of the other judges where to give their pick a good look.  There were a lot of awesome mogs we just didn't have time for and I hope those people at least had fun at the show.  There was even 2 or 3 people I still wanted to win in round 1, but we ran out of money!

Round 2 was a top 5 for 10k each round. It was incredibly difficult to narrow it down.  We ended up having four 10k winners, and 4 runners-up who got 2.5k each.  The runners-up were all amazing and we just couldn't decide who not to pick.

I didn't end up with nearly as many screenshots as I thought I did.  I remember taking more, but when I went to edit them, a lot were duplicates of people :(  Luckily I did end up with some pretty fly Draenei shots, lol.  You can see them all in my Facebook Gallery, but here are a few of my favorites.

Sharpstorm - one of the 10k winners.  Her mog set is mostly made from the Protector Mail, but the pieces she added, and her weapons make it really amazing.  Her gloves and shoulders are from the Shaman tier 10 set, the headpiece is the Savage Gladiator's Helm, the shield is the Cataclysmic Gladiator's Shield Wall, and the mace is Mariel's Sorrow.  All the pieces flow so wonderfully, she is definitely Super Fly!

These guys aren't Draenei, but I still think they're fly :)  Demonofblood and Ohmnomnomnom were both round 2 winners, and two of my top picks.  Demon mixed 3 different PVP tier pieces, tier 10 helm and boots, and a random green-quality pair of gloves, and ended up with an amazing warlock look. He was a 10k winner.  Ohmnon wins for the most unusual look of the night.  His mix of Demon Stalker pieces with the gloves Sharpstorm used, are accentuated by his crazy Murloc helm.  I thought the look was just so unique I wouldn't let him go in round 2.  He was one of the four 'runners-up'.  As Ironyca put it, he was quite brave to show up with that helmet on, lol.  I didn't think that helm could ever look good, it even looked terrible with tier set, so thank you Ohmnom for making it work!

Arkainjel's black and gold look is really striking.  He did a great job pairing the Exalted Plate with Helmet of the Steadfast Champion and Shattered Sun tabard. He was a round 1 winner.
Moonric was a round 1 winner for the excellent way she coordinated Stormrune Edge and Spaulders of Heroism with the Templar's set.

Neshoba did a wonderful job of accessorizing the Ebonhold set. The Renegade boots and gloves, Upstanding Spaulders, and Headdress of Inner Rage all come together nicely.  Unfortunately, round 1 ran out before I had a chance to nominate her as I really like this look.
Kiddø's blue and green look was coordinated amazingly well.  In round 1, she had brown gloves that didn't look quite right, but she came back in round 2 with green gloves and won 10k.  The passive green and blue glows on her weapons really pulled the whole look together.

Thanks again WoW Factor team for inviting me along, it was awesome!

Fly Draenei Friday - Red Thunder

This week is a special FDF, we have a reader submitted Fly Draenei and some fly gals (and guy) from the WoW Factor Show on Fizzcrank.  Tomorrow I'm the guest judge for the show on Tichondrius! I was thrilled to be asked, and I promised Ironyca I would try and pick out other races than Draenei :)

First up is our reader submit, Flame Warden Cristianna from <Carhartt Crusaders> on US Alleria.  Cristianna calls this her "Red Thunder" set.  I think she looks super fly with Hellfire Peninsula as her backdrop!

Don't forget, you can send your fly draenei shots to {prettyflydranei @ gmail.com} to be featured in FDF!
And now, Fizzcrank's Fly Draeneis:
My favorite look of the night was Aesii.  Her brown
and gold combo really stood out.  I was glad
she was a round one winner.

Avaril in another great mail look.  Her Merciless Gladiator's set is accessorized wonderfully with the
Crown of Destruction and the Dawnforged Defender.
Lucïd is a fully 'mogged level 26!  She did an
awesome job putting together a coordinated set
from only super low level gear.
Jukz is a little scary, in a totally bad-ass way.
He's wearing the Gladiator's Chain Helm and Spaulders, and dual-wielding Merciless Gladiator's Cleavers.

To see more of the fabulous mogs from the Fizzcrank show, check out my Facebook gallery and The WoW Factor's gallery.

Purple Death Knight Mog

This mog is pretty similar to what my Blood Elf DK is wearing, but everything looks better on Draenei :)  The outfit is based around pieces from Death Knight Tier 10.  ICC was the peak of raiding for me, and I have great memories of running around in my 'Arthas' outfit.

Shoulders - Scourgelord Shoulderplates (DK only)
-or- Spaulders of the Blood Princes

Chest - Hydralick Armor

Gloves - Darkrune Gauntlets

Belt - Crawler-Emblem Belt

Legs - Sanctified Scourgelord Legplates (DK only)

Feet - Kneebreaker Boots

Red and Purple Hunter Mog

This transmog was inspired by a worgen hunter I saw standing around Stormwind.  You really couldn't miss him, as this look is pretty bright.  It is definitely a stand out!

Shoulders - Dragonstalker's Spaulders
Belt - Terror Pit Girdle
The Skettis Kaliri from Terokkar
Forest is a nice pet for this look.

Aqua and Gold Cloth Mog

Here's a random mog from my ever-growing Mogit set-list! The shoulders in this outfit are sort of an oddity.  They are a recolor of the Classic-Wow Dungeon Set shoulders. The dungeon sets were all recolored and added in BC, but the odd things about these shoulders is they were added in Wrath. There are no other pieces to the set, just this random model from a quest in Halls of Lightning.  Even the other rewards for the quest are strictly Wrath models.  I think they should add more little gems like this.  Whole sets recolored are cool and all, but little hidden transmog pieces are definitely more fun.

Feathered headdresses are also fun.  I'm not sure it really has the same feel as the other pieces, but I really liked the way the little feathers coordinate.  I used plainer gloves to pull it all together.

Head - Nimar's Tribal Headdress
Shoulders - Lightning Infused Mantle
Chest - Robes of the Guardian Saint
Gloves - Arachnidian Gloves
Belt - Belt of Arcane Storms
Legs - Black Mageweave Leggings

Fly Draenei Friday

FDF was on haitus last week while I finished up my Mogolympic entries. Opening Ceremonies are August 12th, and it should be great. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's outfits! This week we're back home, showing off Proudmore's fly gals.

For future FDFs, I'd love to start featuring some readers' Fly Draenei! You can e-mail them to prettyflydraenei [at] gmail [dot] com. Just a screenie is fine, but you can send along any other info you want too.

Nàru's Frostscythe of Lord Ahune looks great
with the Skyshatter Chest and Shoulders.
Evelíne is beautifully coordinated.  The purple
in her gloves highlights the purple in her shoulders,
and her guild tabard looks great with Tier 13 belt
and boots, and Black Mageweave Leggings.

Naughtytail's outfit is very fitting to her name! ;)
Sariêl's tabard and belt make her Absolution set
really pop.

Kátya, crafting up something. The
Tabard of Summer Skies
looks awesome
with the Ornate Mail set.
Supermødel picked perfect legs to go with the
Energized Chestpiece
and Merciless Gladiator's
Mail Spaulders
.
